Description:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Real Estate (based in Vancouver, BC), you will be a self-starter responsible to manage and administer service contracts/agreements for the operation of station buildings for Western Canada.

In addition, you will monitor work planned and in progress in accordance to safety and environmental requirements, prepare analysis reports and recommendations for building investment and facility rationalization, and identify/implement improvement initiatives to achieve operational efficiencies.


Key responsibilities:

• Manage and administer contracts for the operation of station buildings in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. Monitor work planned and in progress in accordance to safety and environmental requirements. Monitor contractual performance and relationship to ensure performance standards are met, identify discrepancies and implement corrective action as required.
• Prepare strategic analysis and assist the Real Estate regional team in the development of business cases for building investment and facility rationalization.
• Monitor regional initiatives and report to Senior Manager on plans, programs and critical issues related to station buildings. Establish schedules, priorities, action plan and provide timely completion of work and resolution of issues involving contractors.
• Issue and receive tenders, awards local purchase orders or contracts for minor construction or professional services in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. Liaise with Customer Experience personnel in the stations.
• Responsible for the stations property profiles. Research, collect and produce management reports on property data and station performance with respect to operational and utilities costs. Perform comparative analysis between stations and make recommendations to the Senior Manager, Real Estate on potential improvements.
• Assist in the development of the regional Real Estate five-year business plan.
• Travel to VIA operated stations in the West Region is mandatory along with being available by phone / email after hours for emergencies.
Requirements:

• University degree is required in Business Administration, Commerce or Finance.
• In addition, to a minimum of 5 years of related experience in Property/Asset management.
• Experience administering service contracts and managing contractors within an operational setting.
• Facilities Management Administration (FMA), Real Estate Property Administrator, or Certified Property Manager (CPM) designations is preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office with advanced skills in Excel. Knowledge of project management principles and MS Project a definite asset.

Must be able to travel.
